An American college student kicked out of Harvard flees to London and is drawn into the violent underworld of a West Ham United football hooligan firm.

Matt Buckner (Elijah Wood) is a straight-A journalism student whose life falls apart when he’s wrongly expelled from Harvard just before graduating.

With nowhere else to go, he flies to London to stay with his older sister Shannon (Claire Forlani) and her British husband Steve (Marc Warren).

There he’s introduced to Steve’s charismatic younger brother Pete (Charlie Hunnam), who leads the Green Street Elite, a notorious firm of West Ham supporters.

At first the gang wants nothing to do with a “Yank,” but Matt earns their respect by standing his ground in a brutal street fight.

For the first time in his life he finds a real sense of loyalty, brotherhood and belonging.

But the deeper he goes, the more dangerous it becomes, as old rivalries with Millwall’s firm threaten to boil over and Matt’s secrets catch up with him.

It’s a hard-hitting drama about loyalty, identity and the line between standing up for yourself and losing yourself to violence.
