Centuries after a catastrophic war known as “The Fall,” the remnants of humanity scrape by in Iron City, a gritty sprawl beneath the last floating sky-city, Zalem.

While scavenging Zalem’s junk heap for parts, cybernetics doctor Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz) finds the intact head and core of a teenage cyborg.

He gives her a new body and the name Alita (Rosa Salazar).

She wakes with no memory of who she is, but as she explores the city and falls for street-smart Hugo (Keean Johnson), she discovers she has lethal instincts and a rare, ancient fighting style.

Those abilities draw dangerous attention: from bounty-hunting cyborgs, from the high-speed bloodsport of Motorball, and from shadowy powers who want her destroyed.

Alita sets out to uncover the truth about her past, and it could change the fate of Iron City and Zalem itself.
